Princeton Instruments has introduced the ProEM-HS:1KBX3-10µm, 1M pixel, 10 µm × 10 µm pixels EMCCD camera. This addition to the ProEM®-HS product line utilises the latest low-noise readout electronics and Princeton Instruments’ patented eXcelon®3 (X3) fringe-suppression technology to provide single-photon sensitivity.

The ProEM-HS:1KBX3-10µm delivers 30 fps at 1024 × 1024 pixel resolution and <1 e– rms effective read noise, at 36.67 MHz readout speed. A custom CCD readout mode produces more than 4800 fps, and a special kinetics mode delivers >119,000 spectra/s. The new camera’s 10 μm pixel pitch is the optimal size to work with Princeton Instruments’ IsoPlane®-320 spectrograph. Other features of the camera include solid baseline stability and linear EM gain control for precision photometry applications.

The ProEM-HS:1KBX3-10μm camera is cooled to below –70°C and all-metal, hermetic vacuum seals carry a lifetime guarantee. The camera also features a Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interface, allowing remote operation without the need for custom frame grabbers. The ProEM-HS:1KBX3-10µm is compatible with Princeton Instruments’ LightField® software, which provides control of camera features via a graphical user interface. For researchers requiring a custom interface, drivers for National Instruments’ LabVIEW® and MathWorks’ MATLAB® are included, as are free software development kits (SDKs).
